Has some scratches and normal wear/tear, missing interior dome light, neutral safety switch not installed, have several images I can share via Dropbox link, have not done cold start video but on the to-do-list, have approximately six 1/8 mile passes during testing and tuning, ran wonderful, runs cool, did not push it past 7.4 seconds on full tires. Should easily dip into the 6's after some race prep. Running lights work and is street legal.
Used to be owned by best friend that passed away and have only had car in my possession for last couple of years. Car was located in Bend, OR for the past 10+ years, body restored by Patterson Coachworks in 2000, complete engine and transmission rebuild 2024.
Clean title in previous owners name, VIN 163P119604, true mileage is unknown, vehicle located 40 mins SSW of Nashville, TN, in Columbia 38401.
“Pontiac's most interesting Factory Experimental effort revolved around the compact Tempest, Motor Trend's 1961 Car of the Year. There were two flavors of FX Tempest, the two built privately in 1962 and the 13 factory-assembled cars built in 1963. Only the 1963 models could list aluminum fenders, hoods, brake drums, exhaust manifolds, and front bumpers as stock equipment. Not surprisingly, the 1962 privateers were free to replace the problematic transaxle and IRS with a live axle, proper engine-mounted four-speed, and rigid drive shaft.
The factory cars (seven coupes and six station wagons) soldiered on with an elaborately beefed, swing-axle suspension and a wacky four-speed automatic transmission that paired two two-speed Powerglide automatics. The Tempests were running 11.20s at better than 123 mph when GM—seeking a lower profile in the face of looming anti-trust legislation—ended all factory race programs in March 1963. And just like that, the Pontiac (and Chevrolet) FX programs skidded to a halt.” – Motor Trend magazine archives.
